His most recent MRI in March revealed progress in his rehab, and Thompson-Robinson is hoping the latest one this upcoming week will allow him to get the green light to do some on-field work with the team's rookies and fellow younger players. According to coach Robert Saleh, Rodgers will have "no restrictions" when the Jets begin their OTA practices May 20, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.

Advice: After suffering a torn left Achilles four snaps into his first season with the Jets, Rodgers underwent surgery to address the issue Sept. 14. While the veteran signal-caller didn't see any game action prior to the conclusion of the 2023 campaign, he did practice on a limited basis down the stretch. With that in mind, it's not surprising that the 40-year-old is on track to practice in full during phase three of New York's OTAs later this month. Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said Drake Maye and Jacoby Brissett will compete for the team’s starting quarterback job.

Advice: “Ultimately, [Maye] still has to win that job and we’re not just gonna give it away,” Mayo said in a Thursday interview. “And I don’t think Jacoby — the type of player, the type of competitor that he is — is just gonna give it up, either. So, we’ll see what happens in camp.” Mayo said everyone would compete for Week 1 starting duties in training camp. Maye, the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, would have to struggle mightily in camp and during the preseason for the Patriots to consider starting Brissett in Week 1. Still, it will be a situation worth monitoring in the summer.
